BROOKINGS – John Hallberg, instructor of saxophone at California State University Fullerton, will hold a guest artist recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, in Founders Recital Hall of the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center on the South Dakota State University campus. The public is invited to attend, and there is no charge for admission.
His guest recital is part of an exchange done with SDSU lecturer Yiqun Chen, who did a guest saxophone masterclass at CSUF in November 2019. Hallberg’s performance will feature works by Warren Benson, Jean-Michel Damase, Fernande Decruck, Andy Scott and Claude T. Smith.
Hallberg is a frequent participant at saxophone festivals and music conventions nad has performed across the United States, Europe and Asia. He regularly attends North American Saxophone Alliance competitions, World Saxophone Conferences and is often invited as a guest artist to various saxophone events to teach and perform. Hallberg also gives clinics and performs recitals and concerts in Southern California.
