Graduation to be held on SDSU’s College Green

BROOKINGS – South Dakota State University will hold its 2021 commencement ceremonies Saturday and Sunday on the College Green, the area east of the South Dakota Art Museum and west of Morrill Hall.

The Graduation on the Green ceremonies for associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees will be in person and the venue allows six guests for each graduate as 3,000 seats will be available. Attendees are encouraged to wear face coverings and enter from the university side of the location. Entrances and parking lots will be identified.

Saturday’s ceremonies are from the colleges of:

• 9:30 a.m. – Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences; and Natural Sciences; and

• 4 p.m. – Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

Sunday’s ceremonies are from the colleges of:

• 10 a.m. – Education and Human Sciences; and Nursing; and

• 4 p.m. – Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering; and Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions.

On Saturday, the student speakers are Keri Pappas at 9:30 a.m. with Madison Dulas and Thalissa Grant-McClure at 4 p.m.

Sunday’s speakers will be Caitlin Thilges and Brianna Vig at 10 a.m. and Gavin Doering at 4 p.m.

As decided in February, Frost Arena will only be used as an inclement weather location. If the need to move inside arises, the number of guests will be limited and alternative viewing locations will be made available on campus.
