Three members of the Brookings High School bowling team, from left, Dylan Cramer, Logan Bren, and Carter Hieb, have qualified to compete in the Junior Gold Championships July 15-22 in Cleveland, Ohio. Through state and regional tournaments throughout the year these athletes have earned their spots and hold the honor of being the first bowlers from the Brookings area to qualify and compete in this national event.

The Junior Gold Championships is a week-long, annual national tournament for the top male and female youth bowlers in the United States. Started in 1998, the tournament has grown to become one of the most prestigious youth tournaments in the world. With more than 3,700 competitors last year and a $300,000 scholarship fund, the Junior Gold Championships are the Super Bowl of youth bowling.

There will be a fundraiser from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Prairie Lanes in Brookings to show support for these bowlers. Tickets are available for purchase in advance for $12 each and include two hours of unlimited galaxy lightshow bowling. Lanes are filling up fast, so reserve your tickets today. Supporters are also offering lane sponsorships for $50 for businesses or individuals who are interested in showing their support for these athletes.

Call or text Kasee at 605-651-7929 for more information, to purchase tickets or to sponsor a lane for the event.
