Gear up for the 20th First Chance Bonanza PRCA Rodeo

BROOKINGS – Gear up in your best boots and favorite cowboy hat for the First Chance Bonanza PRCA Rodeo at the Swiftel Center Nov. 1 and 2, with 7:30 p.m. performances nightly. 

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the event.

Two nights of wild and western performances will be jam-packed with events including: bull riding, barrel racing, bareback riding, team roping, saddle bronc, steer wrestling and tie-down. Special comedy performances by barrelman Allan Dessel will provide family entertainment. Kids events will include mutton bustin’ and boot scramble.

Advance tickets are $18.50 for adults and $10.50 for children ages 3 to 12. Day-of-show tickets are $20 for adults and $12 for children ages 3 to 12.

Tickets are on sale now at the Swiftel Center ticket office, by phone at 800-745-3000, and online at www.Ticketmaster.com. 

SDSU students can receive a ticket discount with student ID – $12.50 advance tickets and $14 day-of-show, available at the Swiftel Center ticket office only. 

New in 2019 is the addition of a VIP seating section. A VIP ticket, $38 apiece, includes a reserved seat next to the rodeo ring, up close to the rodeo action. It also includes exclusive beer specials and table service throughout the entire event. There is a limited amount of VIP tickets available, sold first-come, first-serve.

20th anniversary 

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the First Chance Bonanza PRCA Rodeo hosted at the Swiftel Center in Brookings. 

To celebrate this special occasion, the Swiftel Center invites attendees to the 20th Anniversary Party Deck on Saturday, Nov. 2. The entire Swiftel Center mezzanine section will be transformed and free for all rodeo attendees to enjoy. Starting at 6:30 p.m., the party deck will have free beer and appetizers, while supplies last. There will also be beer specials all night long as well as an exclusive bar hosted on the mezzanine level.

Tough Enough to Wear Pink

Friday night is Tough Enough to Wear Pink night at the rodeo. 

Support the campaign by purchasing a 2019 T-shirt. All campaign proceeds will be donated to Brookings Health System Foundation to promote cancer screening benefits, such as regular mammograms and local resources that are available for cancer patients. Adult sizes XS through XL are $12 ($14 for 2XL or 3XL).

The 2019 design features rough paint stroke texture with the word art phrase “FIGHT CANCER” with the “I CAN” highlighted in pink. The shirt is the signature soft style in light, heathered gray.
