BROOKINGS – The Fifth Street Gym sustained damage after suspects broke into it, according to Brookings Police.
The burglary was reported at 1:57 p.m. Tuesday and occurred in the 600 block of Fifth Street, Lt. Marci Gebers said.
They think it happened between Thursday, July 23, and the time it was reported, she said.
“At least two individuals had entered the Fifth Street Gym and caused damage by discharging a fire extinguisher and they also caused some damage to some other equipment that was inside the Fifth Street Gym,” Gebers said, adding the evidence indicates there was more than one person.
“There’s a possibility of forced entry due to a door handle that had been ripped off of one of the doors, but the mode of entry is unknown at this time,” she said.
“There was nothing that was reported as being stolen,” Gebers said.
There’s no estimate of damage yet.
