The South Dakota Art Museum will host its next Lunch & Learn featuring Paul Goble and S.D. Nelson exhibits, from noon-1 p.m. Tuesday, June 25 at 1036 Medary Ave. Explore current exhibits of Native American story illustrations by Paul Goble and S.D. Nelson with South Dakota Art Museum curators Jodi Lundgren and Taylor McKeown. An interactive gallery discussion will be held from 12:15-12:45 p.m. with time on either end to eat or explore. Bring your own lunch and a friend, and the museum will supply plates, cutlery and beverages. The Brookings Public Library’s next Adult Craft Class is set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 25. Participants will do book spine stamping. Registration is required; stop by the library or call 692-9407 to sign up.

Wednesday, June 26

1 Million Cups, a way for creators, artists, entrepreneurs and business owners to gather and share ideas on upcoming projects or new products, will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, at the Children’s Museum of South Dakota. Free coffee will be served.

The Brookings Public Library will host its annual Transportation Fair from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, on Kidoodle Way. From fire trucks to garbage trucks, come see what keeps the city moving.

The South Dakota Agricultural Heritage Museum continues its Summertime Food Trucks & Fun series from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, at 977 11th St., Brookings. This week will feature the Backyard BBQ food truck and music by Kyle Knutson. Seating will be available. The event is open to the public.

The South Dakota Department of Transportation, City of Volga and City of Brookings will hold informal, open house style public meetings to discuss and receive public input on the upcoming US14-US14 Bypass Corridor Study. The goal is to develop a long-range plan for the US14 corridor, between the US81 intersection south of Arlington and the US14/US14B intersection west of Brookings, and the US14 Bypass, between the US14 intersections east and west of Brookings. The first meeting is set for 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, at the Valley Fibercom conference room, 209 Kasan Ave., Volga. The Brookings Arts Council will exhibit the artwork of PJ Anderson. His latest photography exhibit, “#JunkOnPavement,” will be on display in the Main Gallery at 524 Fourth St. and runs from June 26 through July 19. An artist’s reception will take place from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 27. Light refreshments will be served, with an Artist’s talk to begin around 5 p.m.

Brookings Area Community Band’s next concert is set for 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 30, at the Pioneer Park Bandshell. “A Star-Spangled Spectacular” – A traditional patriotic spectacular including a generous portion of Sousa marches, free watermelon, and a tribute to veterans. In case of rain, concerts start at 7:45 p.m. and are moved indoors to the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center. Each evening, a complimentary snack will be served by band volunteers.
