Eva F. Selleck was born on Jan. 1, 1936, in Brookings, the daughter of Alan and Ruth (Mooney) DeVries. Eva spent her early years and received her education in rural school in Brookings County. The couple farmed together for several years near White.  She was employed at South Dakota State University in the physical plant for 10 years. She and Melvin served as custodians at the First United Methodist Church for a number of years.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and the Disabled American Veterans. She especially enjoyed fishing and traveling.

Family was the most important thing to Eva; she cherished her time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She loved living on the farm and taking care of all the animals. She held a special place in her heart for her cat, Angel.

Eva is survived by her two daughters, Vivian (Michael) Syrstad of Lake Campbell and Pam Hanson of Volga; three sons, Melvin (Nita)  Selleck Jr. of Salem, James (Amy) Selleck of Aurora and Terry (Jami)  Selleck of Brookings and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren
