Winter? More like WINNERS! The Brookings Public Library hosted three fully booked nights of Snowed In, an escape room puzzle quest. Escape rooms are life-sized puzzle where a group searches for clues and solves puzzles to accomplish a mission before time runs out.
Teams of six or fewer used all their puzzle-solving knowledge to survive a fictional cozy cabin weekend turned snowstorm survival. Teams were given 20 minutes to solve several puzzles throughout the room, eventually leading to unlocking the room with their survival supplies inside before the sun went down.
The library has hosted escape rooms before, including a Scooby-Doo themed room, a 90’s throwback room and even a museum heist escape room. Be sure to be on the lookout for the next escape room to enjoy with your friends, family or coworkers at the library.
Pictured, a team of six educators from Dakota Prairie Elementary successfully completed the escape room in 19 minutes and 19 seconds last Wednesday with the use of two allowed hints from the librarians observing the game. The team consisted of elementary teachers Kali Lamp, Brittney Vincent, Rie Vrchota, Claire Leitheiser, Sonya Chatham and paraprofessional Heidi Fischer.
