Embrace the Brrr…ookings during 7th annual Frost Fest

BROOKINGS – Visit Brookings along with local attractions, businesses and organizations present the seventh annual Frost Fest from Feb. 19-21. This year’s theme of “Embrace the Brrr…ookings” encourages visitors and Brookings residents to embrace the winter activities available in the community.

“Now more than ever people are looking for reasons to get out of the house,” Visit Brookings Executive Director Laura Schoen Carbonneau said. “We’re excited to work with the many attractions in Brookings to showcase some of the activities the entire family can enjoy.”

This year’s Frost Fest focuses on enjoying activities in a safe and socially distanced manner. Activities like Snowga at the Children’s Museum of South Dakota, Flashlight Frolic and Stargazing at McCrory Gardens and snowshoeing at Dakota Nature Park will take place outside, while the Brookings Arts Council is offering virtual painting classes. With all Frost Fest activities, participants are reminded to follow the city’s mask mandate.

Frost Fest is traditionally celebrated the last weekend in February and is made possible through partnerships with organizations like the Brookings Arts Council, Children’s Museum of South Dakota, McCrory Gardens, Brookings Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department, Downtown Brookings, Miller Wellness Center, Tee’d Off Golf in Brookings and the Visit Brookings tourism office.
