E/H, Deuel, ORR pick up wins

Estelline/Hendricks needed overtime but picked up a win over Great Plains Lutheran, while in the battle of the Cardinals, Deuel handled Arlington, as part of a Tuesday night of area boys’ basketball action.

Oldham-Ramona/Rutland took down James Valley Christian in other area boys’ basketball action.

 Deuel 79, Arlington 44

CLEAR LAKE – Ryker Erstad scored 30 points and grabbed five rebounds for Arlington but a 45-18 second half doomed Arlington in a 79-44 loss at Deuel on Tuesday night.

Erstad made 11-of-25 shots from the field including two from deep, as well as a perfect 6-of-6 at the free throw line.

Caden Letsche added 10 points and four rebounds for Arlington.

Deuel was led by Trey Maaland with 20 points, Naethan Lovre with 17, and Cooper Schiernbeck with 13 points and seven rebounds. Gavin Benck also had 10 points and nine rebounds.

Arlington was outrebounded 36-27. They shot 17-of-54 (32 percent) from the field, but just 2-of-14 from beyond the arc.

Deuel shot 47 percent (32-of-68) and 10-of-27 from long range.

Arlington (2-4) travels to Elkton-Lake Benton on Friday with tip-off scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

 Estelline/Hendricks 53, Great Plains Lutheran 48 (OT)

ESTELLINE – Braxton Saathoff led Estelline/Hendricks with 23 points and seven rebounds, and Loreno Iotti posted a big double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds as the Redhawks outscored the Panthers 8-3 in overtime to pick up a 53-48 win.

The game was tight throughout with neither team leading by more than two points at the end of any quarter.

Joe McAninch added 15 points and eight rebounds for the Redhawks, while Mattix Hausman dished out eight assists.

Sam Hansen led Great Plains Lutheran with 18 points and Ethan Kjenstad added 16.

Estelline/Hendricks (5-3) will host Deubrook Area on Friday beginning at 6 p.m.

 Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 78, James Valley Christian 63

OLDHAM - Orion Albertson scored 24 points and Will Matson added 22 points as the Oldham-Ramona/Rutland Raiders remained undefeated with a 78-63 win over James Valley Christian on Tuesday night in Oldham.

Landon Wallman led the visiting Vikings with a game-high 26 points, while Landon Wagner chipped in 18.

ORR (7-0) hosts Dell Rapids St. Mary on Friday at 7:15 p.m. in Rutland on senior night for the Raiders.
