Driver killed in crash south of Volga Thursday

VOLGA – One man died early Thursday morning in a one-vehicle crash south of Volga, according to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety. 

The name of the one person involved is not being released pending notification of family members. 

Preliminary crash information indicates a 2016 Honda Civic LX was southbound when the driver failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle went off the roadway and rolled.

The 57-year-old male driver, who was the only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. Both the time of the crash and seat belt use are under investigation, the DPS release said. 

The crash occurred near the intersection of 464th Avenue and 220th Street, 8 miles south of Volga.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
