BROOKINGS – Brookings Mayor Ope Niemeyer has announced Brianna Doran as the winner of the 2021 Mayor’s Generational Leadership Award.
The award recognizes the importance of young leaders who make a community vibrant and dynamic. It is given to a community member 35 years old or younger who has affected the community in the following ways:
• Positively changes how we think about our community and city;
• Helps Brookings attract and retain young professionals and families;
• Motivates new generations to be active in their communities; and
• Contributes to the advancement and well-being of the community through service in areas such as: education, sports, fundraising, charitable voluntary service, economic development, arts and the environment.
The public is invited to the Mayor’s Awards Event from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at the Swiftel Center, Daktronics Room, in conjunction with the Mayor’s Holiday Celebration. The awards program is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
