Donna Mae Stotz-Raetzman, 81, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2022, at the United Living Community in Brookings, S.D., surrounded by the presence of her loved ones. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings, S.D.
Donna M. Stotz-Raetzman was born on July 21, 1941, in Aberdeen, S.D., the daughter of Warren and Ruth (Wright) Raetzman. Donna received her education in Redfield, S.D., and was a graduate of Redfield High School in 1959. She continued her education at South Dakota State University and received her Bachelor of Science degree in history in 1986. She began her employment at SDSU as a secretary in 1966. She also worked as a substitute teacher at the Brookings Middle School from 1986 until 1988.  She retired from SDSU in 2009 as the department head of the International Student Affairs.
Donna was a member of the Lutheran faith. She enjoyed playing bridge and Liverpool Rummy, traveling, horses, attending all the sporting and school events for her grandkids and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her two sons, Jon Stotz and his wife Sheila, of Sinai, S.D., and Jasen Stotz and his wife, Karleen, of Brookings, S.D.; six grandchildren, Brianna Stotz, Cody Stotz, Tyler Stotz, Hayley Stotz, Shawn Stotz and Logan Stotz; four nieces and one nephew, and many other special friends.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; son, James, who died on April 10, 1992; and sister, Arlene Achman.
