Dolphin girls finish fifth; Fliers sixth at Beresford-Alcester/Hudson track meet

BERESFORD – The Beresford girls and Dell Rapids boys claimed the team titles at Tuesday’s Beresford–Alcester/Hudson Track Meet.

The Watchdogs scored 103.5 points as the Dolphins finished fifth with 73 and the Fliers were sixth with 59.

The Quarriers totaled 148 points while Deubrook Area scored 31 for seventh and Flandreau finished ninth with 24.

GIRLS

Madie Hursey led the Fliers with a first-place finish in the 1,600 with a time of 5 minutes, 55.26 seconds and a fourth-place finish of 12:33.26 in the 3,200 as Elizabeth Hursey placed third in the 1,600 in 6:06.07 and added a second-place finish of 2:45.71 in the 800.

The Dolphins’ won the 4x800 relay as Ashley Vandermeer placed second in the 100 (13.01); third in the 200 (27.17) and fifth in the 400 (1:07.11), and teammate Shaylee DeBeer placed second in the 400 in 1:04.96 and fourth in the 100 hurdles in 17.38 seconds.

Deubrook Area’s Josie Olsen and Andrea Vandermeer finished second and third in the 3,200 in respective times of 12:22.21 and 12:23.51 as Vandermeer went 28 feet, 5 inches for fifth in the triple jump and teammate Cortney Bauman placed third in the 300 hurdles in 53.09 seconds.

Flandreau’s Ashtyn Bertram placed fourth in the 100 (13.28) and 200 (27.80) while Hannah Parsley was third in the 400 in 1:05.81 and Elle Thompson threw the discus 102-10 for second place.

BOYS

Flandreau’s Dalyn Bakkedahl placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 40-3 1/2 as teammates Luke Behrens finished fourth in both the 200 (24.42) and 400 (58.05), and fifth in the 100 (11.88), and Gabe Hobbie placed sixth in the 3,200 in 12:12.67.

The Dolphins’ Aczel Garcia took second in the 800 in 2:14.89; Jacob Johnson placed third in the 300 hurdles (46.65) and fourth in the 110 hurdles (17.10); Karter Kruit finished fourth in the 3,200 in 11:46.76; and Ryan Berndt went 19 feet, 1/2 inch for sixth in the long jump.
