Deubrook, Elkton-Lake Benton win team titles at Deuel Invite

CASTLEWOOD – The Deubrook Area girls and Elkton-Lake Benton boys won team titles at the Castlewood Cross Country Invite on Saturday morning.

Girls

The Dolphins put four runners in the top five, including their three scorers in the top four, while compiling nine team points.

Deuel (20) was second, De Smet (25) third and Estelline (45) fourth.

The Cardinal’s Kenzie Hamann was medalist in the 5K in a time of 18 minutes, 49.78 seconds.

Andrea Vandermeer led the Dolphins with a runner-up finish in 19:33.76. Shaylee DeBeer placed third with a 21:24.77 clocking and Joeve Krier was fourth in 21:27.24 to round out Deubrook’s team score.

Cortney Bauman took fifth with a time of 22:05.13. Teammates Abbie Hulsebus (23:04.13), Mattie Nepodal (26:55.12) and Makenna Christiansen (28:39.89) were eighth, 17th and 20th, respectively.

ELB’s Marie Robbins (24:39.61) was 15th.

For the Lady Redmen, Faith VanMeveren (27:44.15) finished 18th, Mariah Williams (28:27.84) 19th and Aislynn Bortnem (28:41.69) 21st.

Boys

Miles Harming won the 5K in 17:41.01 while helping the Elks take the team crown. They totaled 16 points to edge De Smet (20).

Deubrook (26), Deuel (29), Estelline (39) and the host Warriors (54) were third through sixth, respectively.

De Smet’s Baylor Beck placed second individually in 18:08.89).

Riley Benning paced the Redmen, taking third in 18:22.11. ELB’s Riley Hunter (18:43.08) was fourth. Deubrook’s Mason Ramlo (18:51.72) rounded out the top five and Parker Crooks (18:55.96) placed ninth.

Completing the Elks’ winning team score, Cameron Lorden (19:02.95) finished 11th. The Dolphins’ third runner, Chris Landmark (19:03.57), took 12th.

ELB’s Marcus Harming (19:11.3) ended up 14th. Estelline’s Dallis Trego (19:41.59) was 17th, Justin Buschenfeld (20:06.32) took 19th to complete the team score. Jacob Buschenfeld (20:38.99) finished 24th.

Also for Deubrook, Payton Moe (20:31.17) was 22nd and Dartanion Lehman (21:26.85) 29th.
