ELKTON – The Delta Dental Mobile Program was in Elkton recently for one week and provided preventative and restorative dental care to children ages 3-21years who did not have access to dental care.

Twenty-seven children were seen and $59,261 in care was performed.

“We are so thankful for the partnership that we have with Delta Dental. A $2,500 investment per week from Brookings Area United Way is leveraged to provide the much-needed care in our community. This was our first time in the Elkton area, and 74% of children seen did not have dental insurance. We had children of all ages visit the dental van and receive proper care,” said Heidi Gullickson, executive director of Brookings Area United Way.

The Brookings Area United Way partners with the Delta Dental Mobile Program through funding, marketing efforts and coordinating the dental appointments.

With three weeks of dental van this year, 127 kids in Brookings County have received $135,505 in dental care, including 416 restorative procedures completed (cavity fillings, crowns and extractions), 875 preventive measures completed (cleanings, sealants and fluoride), and 342 diagnostic procedures completed (exams and X-rays).

The Delta Dental Mobile Program will be in Brookings County for two more weeks this year. The August van is currently full, but there are still appointments available for October.

To make an appointment for October or join the wait list for August, call the Helpline Center by dialing 211.
