Daum joins Trail Blazers’ Summer League team

LAS VEGAS – Mike Daum will join the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers for the 2019 Las Vegas Summer League.

Daum, who announced his intentions via Twitter over the weekend, concluded his South Dakota State career as the most decorated player in the Jackrabbits' Division I history.

“Excited to announce I'll be playing with Portland for summer league! #Ripcity,” Daum’s Friday tweet read under his handle @dauminator24.

"I'm incredibly thankful to the Portland organization for the opportunity," Daum said. "I'm excited to get to work this summer with the Trail Blazers and am looking forward to what's ahead."

The Kimball, Nebraska, native became the 10th member of the NCAA Division I’s 3,000-point club in February, and left SDSU as a three-time Summit League Player of the Year, 2018-19 USBWA Third-Team All-American, three-time AP Honorable Mention All-American and first-ever Summit League player to be named a consensus All-American

"Mike has always been a high-character, hard-working individual who makes those around him better," Jackrabbit head coach Eric Henderson said. "Jackrabbit nation is incredibly proud of him, and we're excited to see him chase his dreams at the next level."

Portland begins its 2019 Summer League schedule on July 6 and will play four preliminary games. From there, the top eight teams are seeded into a tournament, with the summer league championship set for July 15.

The Trail Blazers won last year's summer league event and reached the Western Conference Finals in this year's NBA Playoffs.
