BROOKINGS – Daktronics is opening its doors to the public for an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the company’s headquarters in Brookings.

Community members, employees’ families and friends, and anyone interested in the business are welcome with guided tours to see the changes that have taken place over the years.

“The upcoming National Manufacturing Week is a great opportunity for us to welcome everyone into our facilities to see the level of production that takes place right here in our Brookings community,” Daktronics Vice President of Human Resources Carla Gatzke said. “We invite our employees to bring their families to get a firsthand view of their workplace as well as welcome those who might be interested in joining the Daktronics team, and community members and shareholders in the Brookings area.”

In recent years, Daktronics has added a state-of-the-art showroom and expanded its manufacturing capabilities to take on more work as demand for LED products has increased. The company assembles LED products from component level to final assembly and welcomes everyone to come in and see what that entails.

“We often hear from visitors that they didn’t realize the level of innovation that takes place right here in South Dakota,” Gatzke added. “In addition to our headquarters, our Brookings campus hosts production operations supporting customers all over the world with their goals of communicating with audiences of all types. We’re proud to have been founded in Brookings and look forward to showing our facilities to the community with this event.”

Manufacturing Week is Oct. 7-14 and highlights the contributions of the manufacturing sector of the United States. Hosted by the U.S. Census Bureau, this week is used to share facts and information about the manufacturing efforts of companies across the country.
