BROOKINGS – The Dakota Prairie Elementary PTA will host a pancake feed and book fair from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 18, at the school to raise money for outdoor amenities.
The pancake feed is for a free-will donation, and all funds will go toward outdoor benches, picnic tables and a gazebo.
Dakota Prairie Elementary is in its second academic year and has continued needs for shaded outdoor learning areas along with the seating for lunch/snack outside.
“Every year the Dakota Prairie PTA prioritizes its fundraising efforts, and this year teachers and staff wanted to see more options for outside play equipment,” Dakota Prairie PTA president Lindsie Bartley said.
Because Dakota Prairie Elementary is so new, the PTA is working hard to get its fundraising efforts organized from year to year.
"We are excited to provide the opportunity for learners to eat and learn outdoors with the addition of new picnic tables. Our PTA has done an outstanding job in coordinating this event, which is sure to be an enjoyable day for our school community," Dakota Prairie Principal Kirstin Girard said.
The Usbourne book fair will kick off during the pancake feed and continue during conferences from 3-7:30 p.m. March 20 and March 23.
Both events are open to the public.
