SIOUX FALLS – The Cubs closed out their regular season on the short end of a 9-2 decision against the Flying Squirrels on Monday night at Harmodon.

Brookings, 21-4, takes on Aurora at noon on Saturday in Castlewood in a semifinal game of the Class A North District playoffs. The winner of that game faces the winner of the Castlewood Ravens and Aberdeen at 6 p.m. for the district championship.

The Squirrels sandwiched a pair of base hits around a Brookings error to plate two runs in the bottom of the first to grab the early lead.

Sioux Falls added another run in the third on a single and double before tacking on two more in the fourth on two singles, a double and another error to make it 5-0 through four.
