HAYTI – The Sioux Valley boys and Hamlin girls won team titles at the Lake Central Conference Track & Field Meet on Tuesday.
The Big East Conference Meet is Friday at 2 p.m. in Flandreau.
Boys
The Cossacks totaled 165.5 points to take the championship.
Hamlin (152) was second and Castlewood (95) third.
Flandreau (66) ended up seventh.
Max Nielson posted Sioux Valley’s lone victory, winning the 3,200-meter run in 11 minutes, 38.1 seconds. Christian Rosa-Landin (11:43.43) was second and Eli Wiese (11:52.9) third.
Nick Strasburg was runner-up in the triple jump with a mark of 39 feet, 6 1/2 inches and matched that finish in the shot put with a heave of 44-1 3/4.
Cole Gross was runner-up in the 200 with a 23.68 clocking and third in the 400 in 53.67.
Tyge Schiller crossed second in the 100 in 11.57 seconds. Tayt Vincent clocked a time of 2:14.84 to place second in the 800. Lane VanderWal’s leap of 17-11 was good for second in the long jump.
Placing third for the Cossacks were Ryan Schuster in the triple jump (37-8 1/4) and Brennan Stoltenberg in the discus (118-2).
The Fliers’ Martin Ruelas won the long jump with a mark of 19-3 1/2 and teammate Dalyn Bakkedahl finished first in the triple jump at 39-8.
Luke Behrens took third in the 200 (23.9).
Girls
The Chargers racked up 196 points, as the Fliers (131) were second and the Cossacks (115) third.
Sioux Valley’s Lynsey Stevens had a big day, posting three individual victories.
She cleared 5-1 to win the high jump, went 15-9 1/2 to take the long jump title and had a mark of 33-11 1/4 to prevail in the triple jump.
Rachel Miller, Hayley Robinson, Cheyanne Kamps and Ashley Weddle won the medley relay in 4:49.67.
Nikole Ziegler was second in both the 100-meter hurdles (18.32) and long jump (15-2 1/4) while adding a third-place showing in the high jump (5-0).
Flandreau’s Kylie Bertram, Isabella Pavlis, Cassidy Keith and Ashtyn Bertram were first in the 4x100-meter relay in 53.71 seconds. Kylie Bertram, Hannah Parsley, Cassidy Keith and Ashtyn Bertram won the 4x200 with a 1:51.6 clocking.
Ashtyn Bertram added a first-place finish in the 100 in 13.21 seconds, as Kylie Bertram was runner-up with a time of 13.35. The latter Bertram was also third in the 200 (28.04).
Hannah Parsley took second in both the 200 (27.91) and 400 (1:04.03).
Madeline Hursey ended up second in the 3,200 (12:28.53) and third in the 1,600 (5:43.75).
Elizabeth Hursey finished second in the 800 (2:33.34) and third in the 3,200 (14:02.4).
Elle Thompson wound up second in the discus with a heave of 102 feet.
