VOLGA – Four different Cossacks found the end zone on Homecoming as Sioux Valley beat Lennox 28-16 on Friday night.
Dalton Hanson ran 21 times for 87 yards and also completed a 34-yard pass. Jaxton Schiller added 13 rushes for 64 yards and two catches covering 69 yards.
Parker Puetz finished 3-of-8 for 131 yards with a touchdown through the air. Lane VanderWal’s two receptions went for 96 yards.
VanderWal had a 52-yard grab midway through the first quarter to set the Cossacks up at the 8-yard-line. One play later, Schiller ran to the right side and found the end zone to make it 6-0.
Puetz had a 1-yard scoring plunge with 2:27 to go in the second. Connor Logan’s two-point conversion run put the hosts ahead 14-0.
The Cossacks got the ball back before halftime and Puetz hit VanderWal for a 44-yard touchdown toss with 11.3 seconds left. Logan’s two-pointer put Sioux Valley on top 22-0 at halftime.
Hanson scored on a 2-yard run with less than a minute to play in the third to push the margin to 28-0.
The Orioles scored a pair of touchdowns in the fourth as Zach Leisinger had TD passes of 30 and 26 yards to Quincy Ihnen, the latter of which came with 7:03 remaining.
Brayden Havrevold paced the Cossack defense with eight tackles, and Tayte White and Hanson both added seven.
Leisinger finished 24-of-38 for 282 yards. Josh Arlt had nine catches for 87 yards and Ihnen added seven for 110.
Sioux Valley outgained Lennox 372-313 in total yards of offense, including 207-31 on the ground. The Orioles’ Brock Anderson and Tyson Stoebner both made 10 tackles.
Sioux Valley (2-3) plays host to McCook Central/Montrose and Lennox (3-2) is host to Madison next week.
• Elkton-Lake Benton 50, Estelline/Hendricks 6
ELKTON – Devin Sopko ran 11 times for 182 yards and two touchdowns to help the Elks beat the Redhawks on Homecoming.
Matthew Nibbe was 3-of-9 for 96 yards with a pair of TDs through the air.
Nibbe hit Billy Stuefen for a 26-yard touchdown to open the scoring. Sopko scored from 32 yards out later in the first.
Taryn Krog found the end zone from 2 yards out in the second, before Nibbe hooked up with Grant DeRuyter for a 48-yard touchdown.
Sopko’s second score came on a 70-yard run in the third period. DeRuyter later intercepted a pass and returned it 35 yards to paydirt.
Estelline/Hendricks got on the board with 5:09 remaining in the game as Marcis Hausman scored on a 1-yard plunge.
ELB’s Aiden Erickson had a 48-yard TD rush with 2:56 to play to close out the scoring.
Krog finished with 16 tackles, and Sopko and Noah Greer added 10 apiece.
Elkton-Lake Benton (2-3) heads to De Smet on Friday. Estelline/Hendricks (0-6) is open next week before playing host to Arlington/Lake Preston on Friday, Oct. 5.

COLMAN – The Hawks defeated De Smet 38-6 in a Dakota Valley Conference football game Friday night.
Nate Tolley ran for 130 yards and threw for 60 as he had a hand in three touchdowns.
Tolley scored on a 4-yard run in the first quarter and added the two-point conversion. He found Dalton Voelker for a 15-yard score in the second quarter to push the margin to 14-0.
A safety made it 16-0. Tolley hooked up with Chase Hemmer for a 46-yard TD toss and again added the two-point run as the Hawks opened up a 24-0 advantage.
De Smet found the scoreboard late in the second period on Cody Cavanaugh’s 1-yard plunge.
Colman-Egan recorded another safety in the third quarter.
Defensive lineman Alec Landis intercepted a pass and returned it 30 yards to paydirt in the fourth.
Ryker Hawkins’ 4-yard scoring scamper provided for the final margin.
Colman-Egan’s Eli Bowen picked up 65 yards on the ground. Hemmer had 46 receiving yards.
Colman-Egan (5-0) plays host to Oldham-Ramona/Rutland and De Smet (2-4) is host to Elkton-Lake Benton next week.

BRIDGEWATER – The Seahawks defeated the Fliers.
BEE (5-0) heads to Canton and Flandreau (0-5) plays at Sioux Falls Christian next week.
