BROOKINGS – Bishop O’Gorman claimed grand champion honors in cheer competition, and Brandon Valley was named grand champions in dance at the Brookings Invitational held Saturday at the Swiftel Center.
In the cheer competition, O’Gorman scored 283.0 points to win by 16.5 points over Sioux Falls Roosevelt.
Sioux Valley finished third overall with 266.0 points.
Brookings scored 217.0 and finished in seventh place, just 3.5 points out of fifth place.
In the dance portion of the invitational, the Lynx scored 296.5 in Pom, and 279.5 in Jazz, to finish with a scoring average of 288.0 and first place honors.
Sioux Falls Washington scored 275.25 (284.5 in Hip Hop and 266 in Jazz) to finish second, and Sioux Falls Lincoln (260.5 in Hip Hop and 240.5 in Jazz) finished with a 250.5 scoring average for third place.
Brookings finished in 15th place, scoring 186.5 in Pom and 176 in Jazz for a scoring average of 181.25.
The Bobcats are next in action at the Harrisburg Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 25, beginning at 10 a.m.
Sioux Valley on Tuesday, Sept. 28, travels to Sioux Falls for the O’Gorman Invitational, which begins at 5 p.m.
