PITTSBURG, Kan. – Northern State senior and Brookings native Conner Doherty was named to the Dan Hansen NCAA Division II Football All-America third team.

He started all 11 games for the Wolves at tight end, leading the team with 37 receptions, 543 yards and eight touchdown catches.

Doherty finished his career with 171 receptions, 2,334 yards and 23 TDs. He was also named to the All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference first team for the fourth consecutive season, and earned CoSIDA Academic All-American honors.

Doherty, who never missed a game in his career, was named to the Don Hansen All-America second team last year.

He led the team in receiving yards all four of his seasons with the Wolves. He was also the team leader in receptions and TD catches three times.

The Don Hansen Division II All-America Team carries out the legacy of longtime small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988.
