College track and field: Pierre Lear earns Summit League honor

SIOUX FALLS – Pierre Lear has been named the season’s first TicketSmarter Summit League Men’s Track Peak Performer of the Week, league officials announced on Tuesday.

Lear opened the indoor track season by breaking his own school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.94 seconds to win the event at the SDSU Holiday Invitational and Multi. According to the league, his time currently ranks seventh in the NCAA for the event. He also ran a leg of the 4x400-meter relay team that finished as runner-up with a time of 3:17.36.

This is his first career weekly honor from the Summit League.

SDSU’s track and field teams return to action on Jan. 14 at the NDSU Bison Team Cup in Fargo, N.D.
