Class B girls, Class A boys prevail in 3-Class Shootout

SALEM – The Class B girls and Class A boys prevailed in the First Dakota National Bank 3-Class Shootout on Saturday evening at the McCook Central Auditorium.

GIRLS

• Class AA 88, Class A 62

Sioux Falls Lincoln’s Anna Brecht led the Class AA team, totaling 17 points, six rebounds and three assists.

Pierre’s Hallie Jerome added 13 points and five rebounds. Sioux Falls O’Gorman’s Sebastian Akoi contributed 12 points and three boards, while Sioux Falls Roosevelt’s Tahai Mitzel chipped in with 10 points and four assists.

For the Class A squad, Tea Area’s Karlee McKinney picked up MVP honors after tallying 17 points, three boards and four dimes.

Webster Area’s Haley Rithmiller had 12 points and eight rebounds. Tri-Valley’s Taylor Will notched six points and nine boards.

• Class B 88, Class AA 65

South Dakota State commit Myah Selland, of Sanborn Central/Woonsocket, earned the MVP award for the Class B squad after leading them to the 23-point win. She totaled 24 points and six rebounds.

Sully Buttes’ Chloe Lamb added 13 points, five boards and four assists. Charger teammate Racquel Wientjes added 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.

Brecht earned MVP honors for the Class AA team, finishing with 21 points, four rebounds and three assists. Fellow Patriot Brooke Luitjens added 12 points and seven boards.

BOYS

• Class A 141, Class AA 102

Three Class A players topped the 20-point mark as Dakota Valley’s Robert Rosenquist led the way with 25, Tea Area’s Ethan Freidel added 24 and Garretson’s Shay Gibson finished with 21.

Sioux Valley’s Tayt Vincent and Sioux Falls Christian’s Dejay Fykstra both totaled 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

Brookings’ Brennan Carlson was named the Class AA team’s MVP after racking up 17 points and nine boards.

Huron’s Clay Korkow and Tye Evers scored 21 and 12 points, respectively. Mitchell’s Connor Morgan had 13 points and Harrisburg’s Wil Johnson added 11 to go with six dimes.

• Class A 111, Class B 99

Rosenquist, the Class A MVP, finished with 18 points and five assists.

Fykstra added 19 points and eight boards. Freidel pitched in with 15 markers.

The Class B club got a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds from MVP Levi DeVries, of Chester Area.

Wolsey-Wessington’s Bennett White added 17 points and White River’s Justice Morrison had 15 to go with seven rebounds. Warner’s Micah Hoellein tallied 12 points, six rebounds and four assists.

 Fykstra won the dunk contest.
