BROOKINGS – The Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce Public Affairs Committee will host its legislative forums for this 96th legislative session virtually.

This year, local lawmakers will answer constituents’ questions via Zoom. The first session is set for 9 a.m. Saturday.

“These legislative forums are vital for Chamber members and Brookings residents to learn from and communicate with our state legislators on important issues, so we will continue with hosting the forums virtually this year,” Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Kelsey Doom said.

The three forums will be held:

• Saturday, Jan. 30, at 9 a.m., with District 7 legislators ;

• Saturday, Feb. 13, at 9 a.m., with District 7 legislators; and

• Saturday, Feb. 20, at 9 a.m., with Districts 4 and 7 legislators.

Moderators for the forums include Angie Boersma, Brookings County commissioner and owner of ID8 Architecture, as well as Don Norton, president and CEO of South Dakota Ag and Rural Leadership.

These forums are sponsored by the Brookings Economic Development Corporation, whose goal is to ensure that the interests of Brookings and South Dakota State University are protected by supporting legislative initiatives important to the community.

These forums are free and open to the public, but advance registration is required – go to www.brookingschamber.org/forums to do so.
