’Cats, Cossacks, Lady Elks, Divers earn wins

BRANDON – The Bobcats beat the Lynx 24-26, 25-22, 25-19, 25-21 in an Eastern South Dakota Conference volleyball match Thursday night.

No further details were immediately available.

Brandon Valley dropped to 1-7 (0-6).

Brookings (2-5, 2-3) plays host to Aberdeen Central on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

• Sioux Valley 3, Castlewood 0

CASTLEWOOD – The Cossacks moved to 4-0 in Lake Central Conference play with a 25-8, 25-10, 25-22 defeat of the Warriors (1-5, 1-1).

The Cossacks improved to 7-3 overall and 4-0 in LCC play with 25-8, 25-10 and 25-22 wins.

Lynsey Stevens finished with 18 kills and Nikole Ziegler 12 to go with four aces and 10 digs for Sioux Valley.

Rachel Miller dished out 42 assists as Bryn Tvedt added 10 digs.

Regan Benike tallied five kills, four aces and seven digs for the Warriors (1-5, 1-1). Morgan Anderson added two aces and three total blocks and Abbey Strait 10 assists.

Castlewood won the B match 2-0.

Sioux Valley (7-3) competes in the Lake Preston Tournament on Saturday.

• Elkton-Lake Benton 3, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 0

LAKE BENTON, Minn. – The Lady Elks cruised to a 25-13, 25-3, 25-16 Dakota Valley Conference win.

Hannah Krog finished with 12 kills, Samantha Schindler 11, Baylee Jandahl six and Aubrey Wirth five.

Callie Otkin guided the offense with 28 set assists and Abygail Landsman paced the defense with 13 digs while adding a pair of service aces.

Karlie Christensen had three aces and six digs. Schindler netted a pair of aces.

The Raiders’ Khloe Tieman had four kills and nine set assists. Kylie Anderson added three kills and eight digs. Victoria Malisch also contributed eight digs.

ELB (6-5, 3-1) plays at Flandreau Indian School on Tuesday and ORR (1-10, 0-3) heads to Lake Preston on Thursday.

• Hendricks, Minn., 3, Estelline 0

The Grizzlies defeated their second DVC foe in three days, toppling the Lady Redmen 25-21, 25-15, 25-16.

Sophie Johnson had 12 kills and Kaylee Johnson five. Abby Saterlee was 13-of-14 at the service line with six aces.

Greta Johnson dished out 19 set assists. Kaylee Johnson was 17-of-17 serving.

Estelline’s Marissa Golas and Tasha Vohlken had four kills apiece. Golas added three aces. Brinn Begalka totaled two aces and a block.

Chandelle Thompson came up with 10 digs and Vohlken tallied eight. Kylie Beare notched three blocks.

Estelline (0-9) heads to the Lake Preston Tournament on Saturday.

• Lake Preston 3, Iroquois 0

IROQUOIS – The Divers defeated the Lady Chiefs (0-5) by the set scores of 25-18, 25-13 and 25-6.

Lake Preston (7-3) plays host to its annual tourney Saturday.

Tuesday’s Game

• Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 3, Iroquois 1

RUTLAND – The Lady Raiders dropped the first set, 25-17, before rallying to a 25-13, 25-20 and 25-9 comeback over Iroquois.

Avery Hyland had seven kills as Victoria Malisch, Kylie Jensen and Jenessa Schiernbeck added six apiece.

Tieman finished with 19 assists and six aces while Malisch collected 10 digs as ORR earned its first win of the season.
