Carolyn Kay Wosje, 83, of Clara City, died Friday, Oct.13, 2017, at the Clara City Care Center.  

Her funeral will be 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 20, at Faith Lutheran Church in Clara City.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be 3:30 p.m. Friday at Oslo Cemetery in Volga.  Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Clara City Funeral Home.  Visit www.hafh.org.

Carolyn Kay Wosje was born on Jan. 23, 1934, in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of Clarence and Jesse (Barrett) Berg.  She grew up in Milwaukee, where she graduated from Riverside High School in the Class of 1951.  She went on to attend Wisconsin State College where she received her bachelor’s degree in education.  

Carolyn was united in marriage to Pastor Carl Wosje at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Madison, Wisconsin.  The couple lived in several communities where Carl served as pastor, Carolyn would often serve as the church organist: including Minneapolis, Minnesota, Rochester, New York, Oklee, Minnesota, Thief River Falls, Minnesota, Scarville, Iowa, Port Orchard, Washington, Chicago, Fort Mojave, Arizona, Clara City, Minnesota, Bishop, California, and Phoenix.  She taught school in Long Beach, California, Madison, Wisconsin, Milwaukee,  Thief River Falls, Minnesota, and also home schooled.  She also spent many years volunteering at several schools.

Carolyn was baptized in the Lutheran faith and later confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Milwaukee.  She played organ starting at the age of 13 in her home church.  She was currently a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Clara City and had been active as an organist, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, Choir and ladies aide.  She learned to read a road map at the age of five when the family would travel to Oklahoma to visit relatives, and had been the family “guide” ever since.  Keeping in touch with relatives and friends through letters was very important to her.  She kept in touch with her Alpha Delta Sigma Club at Wisconsin State College for many years.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Carolyn passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017, at the Clara City Care Center.  She is survived by her husband Pastor Carl Wosje of Raymond; daughters: Elisabeth (and Roy) Stiff of Willmar, Deborah (and Theodore) Bodjanac of Phoenix; son, David (and Jodi) Wosje of Federal Way, Washinton; and several other relatives and friends.  

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert Berg.
