Car believed to have started fire

BROOKINGS – A car is believed to have started a fire in a field east of Bruce, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The fire was reported at 8 p.m. Monday and occurred near 469th Avenue and 203rd Street, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.

“It was reported that a gold/tan colored car was seen doing ‘donuts’ in the field. The vehicle is believed to have started the fire,” Sebring said.

“The Brookings Fire Department extinguished the fire. The damage is estimated at $2,000,” Sebring said.
