BROOKINGS – Not everyone can say they were greeted with fanfare on their first day of school, but the 580 children attending Camelot Intermediate School can.
This morning, students were directed to wait outside before being brought back in to the gym for a short program to start off the day. Along the path to the gym, teachers bearing colored flags lined the hallways and a trio of trumpeters from Brookings High School played while the children marched through.
This was also done at the start of the first school year Camelot was open, but it hasn’t been done since. Camelot administrators thought it would be nice to do it again as a way to make the students feel welcomed to the school.
