Brookings woman struck, injured in crosswalk

BROOKINGS — A vehicle vs. pedestrian accident on Tuesday in Brookings led to a woman being taken to Brookings Health System with minor injuries.
According to Brookings Police Department Detective Adam Smith, the incident occurred at 10:20 a.m. at 12th Street South and Main Avenue South. He wrote in a news release that a white 2022 Buick Envision driven by Kim Dahl, 64, of Volga was traveling east on Trail Ridge Road and turned north onto Main Avenue as Sandra Sutton, 73, of Brookings was crossing the road in the north crosswalk. Dahl did not see Sutton and struck her with the front bumper, knocking her to the ground.
Sutton was checked out by EMTs on the scene for minor injuries and was taken to BHS by a private party, Smith wrote.
