BROOKINGS – Brookings volleyball fell to 2-8 on the season after being swept by Sioux Falls O’Gorman on Saturday afternoon.

The Knights won the three sets by scores of 25-15, 25-11 and 25-18. Brookings head coach Sammi Miller said she thought that lack of communication helped lead to the sweep.

“I think a big part [that led to the sweep] was we just kind of quit talking and shut down there and got in those holes. And that’s something we’ll keep working on always. As a team that’s something that’s always going to be around. But it happens. Sometimes we come out of it and that time we just didn’t,” Miller said.

Brookings had 12 kills as a team. Gracie Adamson and Tayla Dobrenksi each had four kills. Adamson also had seven assists and seven digs. Morgan Linstad had seven digs and Kymber Buys had four assists.

Miller said even though the Bobcats were swept, there were some positives that came out of the match.

“I was very pleased with the front row when it came to their blocking. That was good to see them shutting [O’Gorman] down at times like they did. Another big thing was my setters were really on the move today and it was good to see them getting their feet there on tough passes,” Clark said.

O’Gorman (5-0) had 41 kills and 41 assists as team. The Knights had 48 assists, three blocks and six aces.

Miller said her team is still trying to come together due to the fact that they have not all been healthy so far this season.

“I’d say we definitely are [still trying to get the lineups down]. We just had another player come off injury. She’s back in now, so we’re getting back to some normality now, which is a good thing to see,” Clark said.

Brookings hosts Mitchell at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats will look to break a three-match losing streak in the match against the Kernels. Miller said she thinks having a more normal lineup now should help Brookings get some more wins.

“Having the normal people back again [should help us pick up some victories]. [Hopefully we can] kind of getting back to how we played all summer and it’s exciting to see,” Miller said.
