Brookings splits with Harrisburg in home finale

BROOKINGS – The Bobcat boys beat Harrisburg 30-20, while the Tiger girls posted a 46-4 victory in Brookings’ regular-season home finale Friday evening at Prairie Lanes.

Carter Hieb led Brookings with a 690 (216-220-254) series.

Lee Krueger rolled his first career 600 series, recording games of 191, 183 and 226.

Alex Couser added a 599 (166-222-211) series, Dylan Cramer a 593 (188-245-160), Aarick Dicke a 569 (219-202-148) and Evan Vernarsky a 512 (186-178-148).

For the girls, Kyra Ernst had a 486 (131-166-189) series.

Katlyn Pederson added a 456 (151-159-146), Ellie Fitzpatrick a 431 (140-170-121), Abby Fitzpatrick a 390 (162-120-108), Brooklyn Hieb a 386 (140-101-145) and Alison Marshall a 340 (112-114-114).

Harrisburg won the junior varsity boys’ match 31-18.

Stanley Scubelek recorded a 504 (209-151-144) series, Gabe Boyer a 378 (117-120-141), David Eberline a 345 (118-110-117) and Travis Block a 209 (71-60-78).

The Tigers edged the Bobcats 9-8 in the JV girls’ matchup.

Brooke Seeley had a 309 (92-102-115) series.

Brookings wraps up the regular season on the road, taking on Sioux Falls O’Gorman on Friday at Empire Bowl and McCook Central/Montrose on Friday, Feb. 16, at Thunder Alley.

The state tournament is Friday, Feb. 23, at Prairie Lanes.
