Brookings softball swept in Harrisburg

HARRISBURG – The Brookings Bobcats softball team lost a pair of games to Harrisburg on Thursday night in Harrisburg.

The Tigers won game one, 8-0, and game two, 10-3.

Brookings heads back to Harrisburg tomorrow to take part in the Eastern South Dakota Conference tournament.

The Bobcats are in a pool with Harrisburg and Mitchell and games get underway at 10 a.m.

Game One

• Harrisburg 8, Brookings 0

Harrisburg tossed a perfect game against the Bobcats in the five-inning game, shortened by the run rule when the Tigers scored a run in the bottom of the fifth inning to end it early.

Annika Hawks took the loss for Brookings, allowing eight runs (three earned) on eight hits, walking three and striking out three.

Game Two

 Harrisburg 10, Brookings 3

After the Bobcats plated a run in the bottom of the first inning, Harrisburg responded with four runs in the second inning, two more in the third, and an additional four runs in the fifth to pull away for the win.

Brookings was limited to three hits, one each by Hawks, Sydney Grendler, and Maya Erickson.

Erickson took the loss, allowing ten runs (five earned) on nine hits while striking out one and walking one.
