BROOKINGS – The Brookings Cheer and Dance Invite was held on Saturday at the Swiftel Center. Brookings, Sioux Valley, Elkton-Lake Benton and Deubrook Area all participated in the event.
Cheer
The Sioux Valley cheer team came in second place with a score of 266.50 points. Brookings came in third with a score of 263. Neither team had any deductions. Sioux Falls Jefferson won the cheer portion with a score of 278 and one point of deductions.
Deubrook came in 10th with a score of 196.5. ELB came in 19th with a score of 162.5. The Dolphins didn’t have any deductions and the Elks had 21 points deducted.
Sioux Valley, ELB and Deubrook will participate in the Roosevelt Invite next on Oct. 1. The competition is set to start at 11 a.m. at the Sanford Pentagon.
Dance
Brookings was the only local school to participate in the dance portion. The Bobcats came in 17th with a score of 218.25.
Brookings had a score of 220 in the hip-hop section, which was 12th place. The Bobcats came in 11th in the pom section with a score of 216.5. They had a one-point deduction in each of the sections.
Brandon Valley won the dance portion of the competition with 294.75 points. Dakota Valley came in second (283.75) and Sioux Falls Washington finished in third (277.25). Yankton came in fourth (275.75) and Harrisburg rounded out the top five (273.50).
The Bobcats will participate in the Huron Invitational tomorrow at 5 p.m.
