Brookings Blizzard beat Bismarck Bobcats

BISMARCK, N.D. – The sixth-place Blizzard pulled within a point of the fifth-place Bobcats after posting a 4-2 Central Division win over Bismarck on Friday night.

The Bobcats sandwiched a pair of goals around a Josh Boyer tally to lead 2-1 after one. Vince Marino earned the assist on Boyer’s goal.

Boyer notched his second goal of the game with 5:03 left in the second period as Max Sasson and Brendan Aird set up the power-play tally.

Haiden Karnick lit the lamp a minute later to give the Blizzard a 3-2 lead heading into the final period as Connor Koviak and Parker Revering picked up the assists.

Boyer’s hat trick goal came with just 1:20 left to play as Ben Perkins and Koviak earned the helpers.

Bismarck held a 34-21 advantage in shots as Adam Brizgala stopped 32 shots for the win in goal.

Tonight, the Blizzard, 15-17-2-2 with 34 points, take on the Bobcats (16-17-2-1, 35 points) again. The puck drops at 7:15 p.m. at the VFW Sports Center.
