Thursday, July 5
1:10 a.m. Officer Weets conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of 12th Avenue South for an equipment violation. Subsequently, one male was placed under arrest for drug-related charges.
1:39 a.m. Officer Larsen initiated a traffic stop in the 900 block of Sixth Street. The driver was arrested for a warrant and possession of a controlled substance.
3:17 a.m. Officers recieved information about a male obstructing traffic in the 1600 block of Sixth Street. Officers responded and located the male. He ran away from a UPD officer, and officers assisted in stopping the male. An agency assist report was completed.
1:27 p.m. Officers responded to an unattended death in the 2100 block of Bluegill Avenue. An investigation was performed.
9:36 p.m. Officers were called to 500 block of Eighth Street South for a report of an assault. After an investigation it was typed up and forwarded to the state’s attorney for consideration of charges.
Friday, July 6
9:29 a.m. First-degree rape
5:18 p.m. Officers received information about a person with warrants for rape. The male was later located and arrested for the warrants. A report was filed.
11:09 p.m. Officers were dispatched to a drug call. Contact was made and no drugs were found. The reporting party was an ex-girlfriend. An investigation was conducted, and it is requested that the ex-girlfriend be arrested on complaint for filing a false police report. A report was filed.
Saturday, July 7
1:59 a.m. Mental health committal
4:30 a.m. Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Eighth Street South for a suicidal female. Officers responded and completed an investigation. The female was transported to the hospital for an involuntary mental health committal. A report was filed.
11:24 a.m. Officer DeJong was dispatched to the 700 block of Eighth Avenue to take a report of theft. A report was filed.
1:32 p.m. Officer Schneider was dispatched to Pioneer Park for a drug violation. One male was arrested for drug charges.
1:43 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of 12th Street South for a domestic in progress. An investigation was made on the scene, and one male was arrested for simple assault domestic. A report was filed.
Sunday, July 8
1:19 p.m. Officers responded to the 1800 block of 12th Street South for a welfare concern. A report was taken.
7:15 p.m. Officer Bonnema was requested by a South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper to assist on a traffic stop. Police service dog Gina was deployed and indicated to the odor of illegal drugs coming from the vehicle. A search revealed controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.
Monday, July 9
6:41 a.m. Criminal entry of a motor vehicle
8:32 a.m. Officers took a report of burglary in the 100 block of Main Avenue South.
9:53 a.m. Officer Lantgen stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver was arrested for driver’s license and drug violations.
10:33 a.m. Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Eighth Street for a report of a vehicle that appeared to have been entered without the owner’s permission. At this time it is not believed that any items were stolen from the vehicle. A report was generated for documentation.
1:20 p.m. Officers responded to the 600 block of Jackrabbit Avenue for a hit-and-run vehicle crash. A report was filed.
3:30 p.m. A resident from the 600 block of Ninth Street reported someone had entered two unlocked vehicles parked on her property and rummaged through them. The incident is under investigation.
