PIERRE – Aberdeen Central matched their result at last week’s Bill Scholten Invitational as the Golden Eagles took home team conference champion honors at the Eastern South Dakota Conference meet held Tuesday at Hillsview Golf Course in Pierre.
The Golden Eagles posted a score of 315 to win by seven shots over Harrisburg who combined to record a team score of 322 and finish second.
Mitchell took third at 327, followed by Yankton (334), Pierre (340), Watertown (345), and Huron (349) in places four through seven.
Brookings shot a 354 to place eighth and Brandon Valley was a distant ninth with a score of 405.
Individually, Harrisburg’s Reese Jansa recorded the only sub-par round of the day to win the individual title. Jansa shot a two-under 70 to win by four strokes over Aberdeen Central’s Olivia Braun who shot a 74.
Huron’s Bryn Huber (75), Watertown’s Riley Zebroski (77), and Yankton’s Jillian Eidsness (79) rounded out the top five.
The Bobcats’ Ashton Austreim shot a 82 to tie for 13th and would medal as one of the top finishers in the tournament.
Brookings’ Delilah Fuls finished in a tie for 18th with a final score of 85, while Miyah Foerster shared 34th place with a round of 91.
Paige Mahlke (96) tied for 42nd to complete the four lowest scores for Brookings that would count toward their team score.
Kyra McClemans (102) finished 46th and Jaden Devine (103) placed 48th.
The Bobcats now have about two weeks before the Class AA state tournament which will be held at the Brookings Country Club June 6 and 7.
