SIOUX FALLS – The Brookings boys’ golf team finished in ninth place in its first tournament of the season.
The Bobcats shot a 324 as a team on Tuesday in the second round of the Warrior/Lynx Invite at Willow Run Golf Course in Sioux Falls. Brookings shot a total of 655, which was 91-over par.
Sioux Falls O’Gorman took home first place after shooting a 15-over in the two rounds. Pierre and Watertown tied for second (+44). Harrisburg came in fourth (+47) and Sioux Falls Lincoln finished in fifth (+64).
Austin Clark was the top finisher for Brookings as he tied for 17th with a score of +16. He shot a five-over 75 on Tuesday. Egan Jensen shot an 83 both days and tied for 39th (+25).
Jase Bauer finished in 45th (+26) and Kade Brecher finished right behind him, tying for 46th (+27). Bauer shot an 81 on Monday and an 86 on Tuesday, while Brecher shot an 87 on Monday and an 81 on Tuesday.
Cale Jones tied for 51st (+30) after shooting an 85 on Monday and an 86 on Tuesday. Tyson Lunn rounded things out for Brookings. He shot an 88 on Monday and an 85 on Tuesday to tie for 56th (+32).
O’Gorman’s Radley Mauney won the individual tournament after shooting five-under par. He shot a 64 on Monday and a 72 on Tuesday. His brother, Taten, came in second with a +1.
Brookings will play in the Huron Invitational next on August 26. The tournament will take place at Broadland Creek Golf Course and will start at 10 a.m.
