BROOKINGS – The Blizzard capped off a six-point weekend with a 7-2 thumping of the Aberdeen Wings on Sunday night at Larson Ice Center.

Brookings completed a weekend sweep at Austin with a 4-2 win over the Bruins on Saturday night and solidified its hold on third place in the Central Division with the two wins.

“A win is a win for us,” said Blizzard head coach Dan Daikawa of Sunday’s five-goal win over the Wings. “We won two earlier on the road; we didn’t think we played great – I thought we came out and backed up the weekend with a pretty good performance (Sunday) – great goaltending; timely goals, which we haven’t been getting.

“We’ve been playing well, we just haven’t been scoring at the times that we need them, and (Sunday) we did.”

The Blizzard improved to 24-17-3-1 with 52 points while the Wings dropped to 23-20-2-1 and 49 points.

Brookings plays host to the MN Wilderness for a pair of games this weekend with the puck dropping at 7:05 both Friday and Saturday night at LIC.
