Beverly Jean Haberman was born on Aug. 27, 1928, in Bismarck, N.D., to John and Freda (Meyers) Haberman. She was raised and received her education in McLaughlin, S.D., graduating from McLaughlin High School. Following high school, Beverly continued her education at South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D.
While in college, Beverly found the love of her life in Robert Sam Sampson. Following her graduation from SDSU, Beverly and Robert were united in marriage on Dec. 31, 1951, in McLaughlin, S.D. The couple made their home in Redfield, S.D., where they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Deborah “Debbie.” Beverly then spent 35 years teaching home economics in the Redfield School System until her retirement in 1987.
In 1989, Beverly and Robert made their home in Brookings, S.D., so they could attend all of the Jackrabbit football and basketball games. She enjoyed spending 19 winters in Mesa, Arizona, where she and Bob loved dancing, golfing and socializing. She also enjoyed traveling, especially the trips to Europe, Israel, Greece, Egypt and throughout the United States.
Robert passed away on July 25, 2005. Beverly moved to Sioux Falls, S.D., in 2017 to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law. She had been a resident of Lake Lorraine Grand Living for the last four years.
Beverly was a parishioner of St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church in Brookings and was a member of the SDSU Alumni Association and National Education Association.
In addition to dancing, golf and socializing, Beverly loved to go shopping with her family.  Above all, she cherished the time spent with her daughter, son-in-law, grandson and her siblings. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed.
Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Debbie (Doug) Bentz, Sioux Falls, S.D.; grandson, Chad (Laura) Bentz, Rapid City, S.D.; sister-in-law, Marge Haberman, Mesa, Ariz.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sampson; her parents, John and Freda Haberman; one brother, Howard Haberman; and a sister, Doris Gladstone and her husband Wayne.
