BROOKINGS – Brookings Police Department officers arrested a man on Saturday afternoon in Brookings following a report of an assault, according to information from the BPD.
Detective Adam Smith said officers were sent to the 500 block of 12th Street South at 12:40 p.m., where he said several witnesses observed Jonathan Magera, 36, of Sioux Falls allegedly assaulting another male, punching and choking him. Smith added that the victim refused medical assistance.
Smith said Magera was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault domestic and remains in the Brookings County Detention Center on $5,000 cash bond as of Monday morning.
