Arlington wins first round DVC game

WHITE/COLMAN – Top-seeded Arlington, No. 3 Dell Rapids St. Mary, No. 4 Lake Preston and No. 7 Colman-Egan posted first-round wins in the Dakota Valley Conference Boys’ Basketball Tournament on Monday.

In White

No. 1 Arlington 77, No. 8 Deubrook Area 41

No. 4 Lake Preston 53, No. 5 Estelline/Hendricks 52

In Colman

No. 7 Colman Egan 68, No. 2 Elkton-Lake Benton 58

No. 3 Dell Rapids St. Mary 60, No. 6 Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 47

 Arlington 77, Deubrook Area 41

The Cardinals put up 31 points in the opening quarter and allowed just eight second-half points to pull away.

It was 31-9 after a period; however, the Dolphins cut the deficit to 39-33 at halftime. Arlington was up 61-36 heading to the fourth.

Ryker Erstad scored 29 points, Trevor Larsen 17 and Trey Ramstad 10

Deubrook’s Cooper Holmlund ended up with 14 markers.

• Lake Preston 53, Estelline/Hendricks 52

The Divers held off the Redhawks to move into the winner’s bracket.

Estelline/Hendricks was up 11-10 after 8 minutes but Lake Preston held a 26-21 halftime advantage and led 43-31 heading to the fourth.

Jasper Denison had 18 points, Carter Malone added 13, Jarrett Brown ended up with nine and Tate Larsen tallied seven.

EH’s Marcis Hausman and Riley Benning both had 17 points, while Dawson Bury and Braxton Saathoff chipped in with seven apiece.

 Colman-Egan 68, Elkton-Lake Benton 58

Dalton Voelker is back.

The big fella, who is coming off an ankle injury suffered earlier in the month, dropped in 36 points on 14-of-23 shooting. He went 8-of-10 at the foul line and added 11 rebounds to complete the double-double.

The Hawks shot 56.5 percent (26-of-46) from the field.

They were up 18-10 after a quarter, 35-25 at halftime and 49-40 heading to the fourth.

Nate Tolley added 12 points and Ty Hiller had eight, as both players corralled five boards. Hiller dished out three assists. Chase Hemmer contributed six points and four rebounds.

The Elks’ Grant DeRuyter finished with 22 points, four rebounds and three blocked shots.

Marcus Harming chipped in with 13 markers, Matthew Nibbe 10 and Mason Gaumer seven.

 Dell Rapids St. Mary 60, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 47

Connor Libis dropped in 31 points to lead the Cardinals past the Raiders.

DRSM was up 14-9 after a quarter, 32-22 at halftime and 46-34 through three.

ORR’s Brandon Trygstad had 16 points, Orion Albertson nine and Will Matson eight.
