Area BBB: Arlington, Deubrook, Flandreau pick up victories

Arlington, Deubrook Area, and Flandreau all earned wins in high school boys’ basketball Thursday night.

The Cardinals beat Elkton-Lake Benton, 67-60, while Deubrook Area handled Estelline/Hendricks, 57-36, and Flandreau defeated Madison, 54-40.

 Arlington 67, Elkton-Lake Benton 60

ELKTON – Ryker Erstad scored 30 points including making 11-of-12 at the free throw line as the Cardinals traveled back home with a 67-60 win over the Elkton-Lake Benton Elks.

Britt Carlson added 19 points including five three-pointers, while Blake Maden scored nine points and Caden Letsche added eight.

The Elks were led by Ryan Krog with 22 points and Logan Kuehl with 17 including four makes from beyond the arc.

Aiden Erickson added eight points and seven assists.

The Cardinals shot 17-of-22 from the stripe, while Elkton-Lake Benton made 18-of-26.

The teams traded matching 18-10 quarter scores in the first half and went to halftime tied at 28 before the Cardinals opened a nine-point lead through three quarters.

Arlington (3-4, 2-3 DVC) hosts Lake Preston on Jan. 20, while Elkton-Lake Benton (5-3, 4-1 DVC) is at Colman-Egan on the same date.

 Deubrook Area 57, Estelline/Hendricks 36

ESTELLINE – Andrew Trooien scored 20 points as Deubrook Area used a 23-7 third-quarter to pull away from Estelline/Hendricks, 57-36.

Sutton Fritz and Nick Bowne each scored seven points for the Dolphins.

Estelline/Hendricks was led by Dawson Bury with nine points, six assists, and five steals.

Braxton Saathoff added eight points.

Deubrook Area (4-3) plays Groton Area tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Redfield Classic.

Estelline/Hendricks (5-4) will host Oldham-Ramona/Rutland on Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. in Estelline.

 Flandreau 54, Madison 40

Tash Lunday led Flandreau with 22 points and eight rebounds as the Fliers earned a solid road win at Madison on Thursday night.

After the teams posted matching scores of 14 points in the first quarter, Flandreau held Madison to just two points in the second quarter and led 30-16 at the half.

Liam Streitz added ten points and four rebounds, while Chase LeBrun tossed in nine points and Alex Anderson had eight points and five rebounds.

Aiden Jensen led the Bulldogs with 13 points with Aspen Dahl adding nine and Nate Ricke scoring eight.

Flandreau shot 48 percent (20-of-42) for the game, including 6-of-16 from long range, while the Bulldogs shot just 31 percent (15-of-48) and 3-of-13 from deep.

The Fliers (8-1) have won eight straight after dropping their season-opener. They are next in action on Tuesday as they host Deuel.
