Anita Bailey was born July 16, 1971, in Chamberlain SD, the youngest of three children born to Frank and Shirley (Nolz) Bailey and spent her childhood on her parents’ farm. When she was still a young child Anita faced a tough battle with cancer, but thanks to the excellent work of her doctors and her family’s love and support she was able to beat it. This and her years spent working with her hands on her parents’ farm helped shape her into the incredibly strong and resilient person she would grow to become.
Anita graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1989 and would go on to attend Augustana University in Sioux Falls, where she would graduate with a degree in English and psychology in 1993. While at school her brother Russell introduced her to Darin Weber whom he had met while attending Dakota Wesleyan University.
The two would get married on Aug. 6, 1994. The couple would first live in Gunnison, Colorado, then move to Vermillion, South Dakota, Mitchell, South Dakota, and Belle Plaine, Minnesota, before settling in Brookings, South Dakota, where the family lives to this day. During these years they would welcome three children to their family. The first was their son Reece who was born in Gunnison in 1999. Over a year later their son Jacob was born in Vermillion in 2000. Lastly their daughter Mackenzie was born in Mitchell in 2003. Anita met many people over the years. who still consider her a great friend. She touched many lives everywhere she went and the relationships she formed lasted her entire life.
Anita lived a full life and will be remembered fondly by many. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, and sister to her family. She was considered a close friend by many people she had met from Chamberlain, all the way to Gunnison. She traveled the world with her family and friends and got to have incredible experiences across the globe. She spent much of her time in Brookings volunteering for activities her children participated in. She was especially involved in the local youth soccer club, where she spent much of her time volunteering.
She is survived by her husband Darin Weber, her children Reece Weber, Jacob Weber, and Mackenzie Weber, her parents Frank and Shirley Bailey of Chamberlain, SD; her brothers Ryan (Tammy) Bailey of Brandon, SD, and Russell (Amy) Bailey of Custer, SD; her father and mother in-law Allen and Beth Weber of Grand Junction, CO; her sister and brother in-law Michelle (Todd) Johnson of Sidney, NE, and several nieces and nephews.
