BROOKINGS – A Brookings man was arrested Thursday night by the Brookings Police Department on suspicion of aggravated assault.

Sgt. Joel Perry said the incident involved Adam Salinas, 39, and another Brookings man. Police were called to the 800 block of Prairieview Drive at 6:40 p.m., Perry said.

According to a probable cause statement from Brookings Police, the alleged victim called authorities to report a “marijuana grow” in the city and said that Salinas allegedly pointed a gun at him multiple times, followed him to Hy-Vee and threatened him.

Salinas denied pointing a gun at the reporting party but allegedly said the two had an ongoing disagreement over the past couple of days, according to the probable cause statement.

Brookings Police reported that a gun was allegedly found at the scene.

Salinas was being held in the Brookings County Detention Center as of midday Monday and was scheduled for a bond hearing in the afternoon.
