Ag Relations Scholarships awarded for 2022

BROOKINGS – The Ag Relations Committee of the Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce announced the recipients of its 2022 Ag Relations Scholarships.  

The Ag Relations Committee’s mission is more than promoting the agricultural industry. 

Committee members work to raise funds to support and provide local youth with scholarship backing.

These scholarships allow students to apply themselves in a secondary education setting, learning how to best serve the beloved industry and to ensure local youth have access to this opportunity. 

The $1,000 high school scholarship was awarded to Lane Thompson of Elkton. Thompson is currently finishing his senior year at Elkton Public High School and will attend Lake Area Technical Institute in the fall to pursue a degree in precision ag and ag business. 

The $1,000 higher education scholarship was awarded to Sydnee Hubner of Pipestone, Minnesota. Hubner is currently studying agriculture and biosystems engineering at South Dakota State University. 

The Ag Relations Committee is also awarding two $500 scholarship this year. The first scholarship was awarded to Tara Feucht of Brookings.

Feucht is a graduate of Brookings High School and will be attending SDSU this fall majoring in animal science on the pre-veterinarian track. Audrey Field was awarded the final $500 scholarship. Field is from Volga and recently graduated from Sioux Valley High School and will pursuing a degree in animal science this fall at SDSU. 

“These scholarships are a great way to reward students for their hard work and assist them in their continued education,” said Daleena VanKooten, 2022 Ag Relations Committee chairwoman.
