53 Brookings County nonprofits part of S.D. Day of Giving

BROOKINGS – Get ready. South Dakota Gives, the state’s second statewide giving day, kicks off at midnight on Giving Tuesday, Dec. 3, and continues until 11:59 p.m. that night.

What’s a giving day? It’s one day that nonprofits can highlight their work, and donors across the state can celebrate generosity by giving to their favorite organizations.

Fifty-three nonprofits in Brookings County are participating in the 2019 South Dakota Day of Giving.

The participating nonprofits in Brookings County are extending the South Dakota Gives campaign with coordinated efforts they are calling #BrookingsGives. Between now and Dec. 3, watch social media for volunteer spotlights and opportunities, plus more information from the registered #BrookingsGives nonprofits.

“We are excited about the way the nonprofit community in Brookings is coming together for the Day of Giving,” said Kelly Gibson on behalf of South Dakota Gives. “We’re looking forward to following your collective work.”

South Dakota Gives will award donations and incentives to the registered nonprofits from the South Dakota Prize Pool, a truckload of money donated from individuals, businesses and foundations who believe in South Dakota – and the future of the state. And the fun and prizewinning has already begun.

South Dakota Gives will not take a percentage of donations received through its site, www.southdakotagives.org, but acts as a platform from which to launch excitement and the ability for registered nonprofits to showcase their volunteers and passion for meeting the needs in their community. Every cent donors give goes to the organization they choose to support.

How can donors participate? Follow South Dakota Gives on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and support favorite registered nonprofits by tagging them and using the hashtags #ForSouthDakota, #SouthDakotaGives and #BrookingsGives in posts. Donate to your favorite Brookings nonprofits on Dec. 3 and think about ways you can volunteer with them in the upcoming year.
