Breakfast to benefit Brookings School District meal deficits

BROOKINGS The General Federation of Womens Clubs will be partnering with the VFW Auxiliary for the Third Sunday Breakfast on Nov. 17. All proceeds from this breakfast will go to the Brookings School District to help reduce families’ meal deficit balances.

The breakfast will be from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the VFW George Dokken Post 2118, 520 Main Ave., in Brookings.

The menu consists of pancakes, three sausages and scrambled eggs for $8 or biscuits and gravy, three sausages and scrambled eggs for $8 or both entres on two separate plates for $10. Children 3-7 years eat for $5 and children 2 years and under eat for free. All meal choices include coffee and juice.

In continued efforts to help reduce childrens negative Brookings School District meal account balances, the Brookings GFWC will also be accepting donations from the public. All donations will be matched up to $500 by the Brookings GFWC and donated to the Brookings School District.

The Brookings GFWC will also be selling quilt raffle tickets at $1 a ticket or $5 for six tickets. The winner will be selected at the South Dakota Agricultural Heritage Museum Holiday Market on Dec. 14. All proceeds from the raffle will be used for future Brookings GFWC community service projects.
